Welcome to HMS website

HMS was established in year 2000 by a team of 20 persons from Universities and Industry. Since then three National Conferences and several Workshops have been organized. The 1st National Conference was held at the University of Thessaly in 2001. Two more conferences followed, in National Technical University of Athens (2004) and in University of Patras (2007). Conference proceedings were published in all occasions. Several Workshops have also been organized. Among them are: Workshop on Computational Alloy Thermodynamics, Volos, 2002

  • Workshop on Mechanical Behaviour of Metallic Materials, Patras, 2005
  • Workshop on Surface Engineering Technologies, Athens, 2006

The mission of HMS is to promote science and engineering concerned with metallic materials in Greece. The objectives of HMS are:

  • The advancement of science and technology of metallic materials and metallurgy
  • The cooperation between scientists, academics, researchers, engineers and industrialists who are actively involved in the field of metallic materials and metallurgy
  • The exchange and dissemination of knowledge in the field of metallurgical science
  • The contribution to the improvement of Greek education in the area of metallic materials and metallurgy
  • The promotion of metallurgical science in Greece
  • The representation of the Greek metallurgical (scientific and engineering) community in relevant international societies
  • Intensification of the co-operation between universities, research institutions and industry.
